Kira Sobers is the Media Digitization Manager for the Smithsonian Institution Archives, part of the Smithsonian Libraries and Archives. She has been involved with the digitization of field notes, documents, audio, and video materials from initial cataloging to online access for the last ten years. Kira has a Masters in Applied American History from George Mason University.

Falling for Field Books

Bird lover and citizen scientist James W. Eike (1911-1983) documented birds near his home in northern Virginia. His personal notes, demonstrating his love of both birds and his family, make his field books a joy to explore.
