Overcoming a Historical Mistrust of Doctors in the Age of Covid

At the outset of the pandemic, Dr. Ala Stanford knew she had to help overcome the historical mistrust that African Americans had for the medical establishment. Her name choice for a COVID action group was selected with that in mind. The Black Doctors COVID Consortium (BDCC) was how many doctors, nurses and students, of many races, heeded the call–risking their lives to help the community.
