Max Qs First Gig

On a Saturday evening in June 1987, the all-astronaut rock band Max Q gave its first performance ever, at Walter Hall Park in League City, Texas. This home video from the concert shows the band's version of "Kansas City," with Robert "Hoot" Gibson on guitar at far left, George "Pinky" Nelson on vocals, Jim Wetherbee on drums, and Brewster Shaw on rhythm guitar at far right. More than two decades later, Max Q is still performing, but with a completely different lineup of astronaut musicians. Video: Courtesy Hoot Gibson (02:18)
