From the Smithsonian Museums
The National Museum of African American History and Culture Education Team believes that meaningful museum learning can, and should, happen at every age. We serve children, families, students, and educators of all ages. Our units are dedicated to Early Childhood Education (starting at birth through 2nd grade) and Teaching and Learning for students in grades 3-12. We strive to ignite critical thinking and creativity, generate self-pride and support positive identity development, and inspire lifelong learning for diverse audiences. As a key audience, offerings for educators are designed to stimulate new ways of thinking and cultivate a passion for lifelong learning.
Hundreds of PreK-12 teaching and learning resources that support developmentally appropriate skill-building and leverage both well-known and lesser-known stories in American history are freely available online for use in the classroom and at home
