Two six-month, full-time, paid writing internships are available at Smithsonian magazine in Washington, D.C., beginning January 2014. The editorial internship involves writing, blogging and producing multimedia for the magazine's website and writing for the print magazine's "Smithsonian" department. The digital internship involves writing, blogging, producing multimedia for the magazine’s website, assisting in managing Smithsonian.com’s social media presence and other research and reporting tasks.
Candidates for both internships should have a proven aptitude for writing and web journalism skills. A recent undergraduate or graduate degree is a must.

The undergraduate internship program is sponsored by the American Society of Magazine Editors. Strong consideration is given to applicants with a demonstrated interest in journalism, either with journalism as their college major or through work on their college magazine or newspaper.
