Two six month, full-time, paid writing internships are available at Smithsonian magazine in Washington DC, beginning January 2015. Working with the Smithsonian magazine editorial staff, the editorial intern will build skills in writing, blogging and multimedia production for the magazine's website. Additionally, they will learn about aspects of the editorial process by writing and reporting short pieces for the print magazine. They will have the opportunity to learn about and assist in using social media at an institutional level, as well as report stories for the digital edition.
Candidates who would benefit most from the internships will have a proven aptitude for writing, the desire to increase their web journalism skills, and have recently completed an undergraduate or graduate degree program in a related discipline.
