Thomas Hallock is a professor of English at University of South Florida St. Petersburg and is the author of From the Fallen Tree: Frontier Narratives, Environmental Politics, and the Roots of National Pastoral, 1749-1826

Walker's map is now in the Smithsonian's archives. In an 1873 report, he described relics he'd found, including "immense quantities of broken pottery."
