Terry Alford is a history professor at Northern Virginia Community College and author of the award-winning book Prince Among Slaves. He was an adviser to Steven Spielberg's film Lincoln and his latest biography, Fortune's Fool: The Life of John Wilkes Booth, will be published in April.
