Vote For Your Favorite Vintage Airplane in Sacramento This Weekend
The National Aviation Heritage International comes to the California Capital Airshow.
If you happen to be near Sacramento, California, this weekend, you’ll want to stop by the California Capital Airshow to take in one of the most eye-catching collections of vintage aircraft you’re likely to find anywhere. The National Aviation Heritage Invitational (NAHI) competition is being held at Sacramento’s Mather Airport this year, having moved from its traditional home at the Reno Air Races.
If you’re at the show on Saturday, you can even vote for your favorite. (Air & Space magazine participates by providing and counting ballots for the People’s Choice Trophy.) Among the 20 or so competitors this year are a 1937 Stinson Reliant, a 1944 Beech Staggerwing, and a 1939 DC-3 that once transported General “Hap” Arnold and his staff. Watch the video above for profiles of some of these historic aircraft.
