Shame, Shame Oman

For the first time ever Unesco took a World Heritage Site off its list.

While 21 locations were added to a list of 851 total sites, the Oryx Sanctuary in Oman was stripped of it's designation.

Oman had reduced the habitat available to oryx 90 percent while watching the population plummet from 450 to 65 in the last decade. So, it loses a title and the chance to obtain international funding.

Too bad for the Oman oryx, which will likely continue to plummet with less recognition, support and protection.
