There is a deep emotional connection for these folks to let another man into their lives and display a foreign way of living. Very well composed and captured.

I have looked at all the pictures, and there are many worth mention but this one made me stop and stare and think to myself, "Wow, look at how incredibly natural and balanced this picture is. Look at how comfortable they are in front of this person with a camera. This is an image you would have to go to the vast ends of the earth to obtain; and if you are lucky enough to get there, you have to be the kind of photographer that understands the balance between a nature shot, and a "Natural" shot. I love this photo! Good job sir, you get my vote!

This photo captures an uncanny rawness that is uniquely its own. That brief moment captured on camera reveals an amazing and intricate story but still leaves much to the imagination. It's as if the photographer is allowing us to play the role of the curious voyeur in this photo. The is an underlying romanticism juxtaposed with unpolished sophistication that cannot be replicated even if one tried.

In the Summer of 2009, I took a 10 day trip through Kham (Eastern Tibet). I spent two days in the hilly grasslands with the Nomads of Tagong (Lhagang in Tibetan) riding on horseback over majestic peaks and spending the night sleeping on cypress branches in a traditional tents.
I took the photo you see above just right before dinner. In the photo, Soko, Sola, and Railo are gathered around the pot of water used to cook the noodles we later on consumed. Behind me laid 6 baby yaks --- yakking away. The smell of smoke from the fire, the noodles cooking, baby yaks, cypress twigs, the light coming in through the little opening in the yak hair tent... I tried my very best to capture that moment with my camera but the experience dwarfs the photo that you see. Words and my photo cannot begin to convey what I experienced in Kham.
