I was doing my Bordagaray family research when I came upon this fascinating photograph. My grandfather was a Basque sheepherder near St.Jean Pied de Port, France when he chose to come to California at 17 years old. His name was Dominique. Most of his family moved to Argentina at about the same time in the late 1800's. He never returned to the old country. I was able to travel there after college and experience the countryside he so loved. Your photo captures the beauty of the world sheepherders experience...the soulful, solitary life dedicated to these majestic creatures. I applaud your talent.

Good picture. Too centered & too much contrast on the sheep, to my liking. It appears that a gaussian mask was used for the background?

"to which he added clouds..." Bummer!
Impressed at first sight the lucky shot turns into a pretty good picture editing. Still, Bordagaray jumped out of his car and caught the sheep in sunset-, not flash-light and made it an eye-catcher.

The textures are beautiful, the composition perfect -- even the legs are perfectly aligned so we only see an absolute side view. Striking artistry, thank you!

What a wonderful B & W image! I see so many textures and shadows in the sheep's coat, the clouds, and plants . Thank you for sharing your image with us, Martin.

Most every one has a camera, few know how to use them. As support, reflect upon these wonderful captures. Makes me want to never pick mine up again. Shamed by these great works!
