Lindsey Fitzharris is the author of The Facemaker and The Butchering Art: Joseph Lister’s Quest to Transform the Grisly World of Victorian Medicine, which won the PEN/E.O. Wilson Award for Literary Science Writing. Her TV series The Curious Life and Death of ... appeared on the Smithsonian Channel. She contributes regularly to The Wall Street Journal, Scientific American, and other publications, and holds a PhD in medical history from Oxford University.
