Museum Day is an annual celebration of boundless curiosity hosted by Smithsonian Magazine. As a participant in this year’s event, Historic Annapolis offers free entry to two of our historic sites to anyone presenting a ticket:

*Self-guided entry admission to the Museum of Historic Annapolis at 99 Main Street is available from 10 am to 4 pm to enjoy our newest exhibit, Annapolis: An American Story, featuring dramatic stories of Annapolis and its diverse people, an inspiring film, and three floors of colorful exhibits and collections that enhance your exploration of Annapolis, A Museum Without Walls™.

*Visit Pinkney Street 11 am to 4 pm: The Waterfront Warehouse, Shiplap for the encampment, and Hogshead entry at 43 Pinkney Street. You will meet the First Maryland Regiment, under the command of General William Smallwood. Engage with the men as they prepare to leave Annapolis and head into battle and watch them drill on Pinkney Street for the upcoming fight with British forces. Talk with their families and see how they prepare their supplies. Learn how the efforts and courage of these men allowed the rest of the Continental Army to escape complete destruction at the first major battle of the Revolutionary War.

Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
