Where the waters are born

Sunset at Gandarela’s mountains, where are born 60% of the headwaters which feed the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte, in Brazil. This mountains also hold the headwaters of Velhas River and Doce River, and the ironstone outcrops, wich harbor a rich biodiversity and a high endemism rate (animals and plants that cannot be found anywhere else in the world). Unfortunately, this region is also the target for several mining projects. What will happen to the 5 million people who rely upon these waters to survive?
