Through the Berlin Wall

This photo looks through the East barrier of the Berlin wall to the traps and barriers between the two sides. The cracks through which the picture was taken were all that broke up the grey concrete surrounding the city. The cracks showed citizens the the traps waiting for them should they try to leave. Both West and East Berlin citizens lived their lives alongside the wall, but the harsh concrete limitations were felt much more on this side of the Memorial.
