The ruins of Shatili

The ancient mountain village of Shatili, in the Georgian Caucasus, used to be the countries first line of defence against marauders form the North. Now it stands, barely inhabited, as a reminder of the regions troubled history. We had traveled for two days form the countries capital to visit the place and were well rewarded. I used a 28mm lens to get this low-angle shot of the village, allowing it to almost burst forth from the surrounding hills.
