The Monumental Curved Stairs of the National Museum of the American Indian

More than eighteen years ago, when I was working as a young architect in Washington DC, the curved flights of stairs and the stepped dome in this photograph, were architectural features that only existed on drawings, with coordinates, inside many computers, including mine. But here stands a building that has become reality, and it will stand before us for many years to come.
