Home to some 200 families that have been living and working there, apparently since British rule, Dhobi Ghat sees up to 10,000 people working on any given day. But behind the brilliant patches of crimson-, saffron-, and blue-coloured clothes hanging out to dry, a very dark reality exists. Faceless souls toil away in dark, polluted, humid nooks and alleys, doing the same thing, sorting, washing, ironing, day in and day out.
