15th Annual Smithsonian.com Photo Contest
This picture is a part of a Photo Reportage about Spanish Saffron, considered one of the best and most expensive condiments. In La Mancha, a spanish region, it has its own Protected Designation of Origin. It's made in a small village, called Minaya, in Albacete. People here call the saffron “El oro rojo” (the red gold).
