14th Annual Smithsonian.com Photo Contest
She wants the world to know her grief. Her family of 3 generations lives in 2 tents, in the open bush across from my hotel. We could communicate very little, sharing words through one of her three sons. She points to the sky. She tries to tell me what I couldn't comprehend. The son pulls out his bother's photo from a dusty briefcase, who was alive beginning of the year, until a motorcycle accident. The mother points to his wife, due to give birth. I realized the mother cries for the daughter in law who will live forever in her widowhood with a fatherless child. And her beloved son who will never live to see his unborn child.
