Landmannalaugar

On a recent trip to Iceland I wanted to drive to Landmannalaugar. I had a four wheel drive unit, but I was worried about fording the river. I decided to park my vehicle before the river and walk the rest of the way in. I was utterly surprised at the amount of people who were here. Huge tourist buses were crossing the river; tents and people were everywhere. I have recently read that this particular campground may be shut down. There are too many people who want to camp. This has become a problem for Iceland. Places that were once lonely and wild have become places that are no longer lonely.
