Josephine Lost her Head

In Fort-de-France, Martinique, there is a statue of Empress Josephine in La Savane Park. More than twenty years ago, the head was lobbed off by anti-colonialists and red paint splashed on the statue. No one has repaired it and it's become a fascinating statement on the island and its history.
