Unfortunately this is common practice in south eastern Asia. People make a living from risking their lives everyday and harming the environment, at the same time. Bird nests are a gastronomic prelibacy and can cost up to 3000$ x kg (red nests apparently up to 10,000$!) The name El Nido comes from these nests, the limestone cliffs in the Bacuit Arcipelago are a great place for the swallows to live in.
