14th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest
In winter, the supply ship that brings food and other necessities to the residents of the north-coast of the Gulf of St. Lawrence (Quebec, Canada), must face the rigors of cold weather in January and February.
Although global warming is increasingly present during the cold period, it still happens in winter when the cold is very intense as it was the case in the winter of 2014-2015. This picture was taken near the dock of the city of Rimouski, in February, when ice cover was probably a thickness of more than one meter.
