Fiesta del San Jose - Honoring the founder Isabella & Ferdinando

The Fiesta del San Jose is an annual festival in San Jose del Cabo (Baja California, Mexico). The church in the background is the third iteration of the original monastery built during colonization. the scaffolding holds the sparklers and using hand-lit fuses, are lit sequentially. Each set was different, tortuga (turtle), butterfly with wings flapping, etc... At one point, the palm tree on the left caught fire from the closest sparklers. The firemen were on seen and active. The man on the bottom of the image is holding his jacket above his head, protecting himself from the burning palms and sparks.
