16th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest
Eileandonan Castle in January
The air was still but frigid. I can remember my hands grasping my ice-cold camera body as I stretched out my thumb to advance the film in my camera. My fingers were locked in place hugging my camera, my nose dropped and the frosted grass beneath my feet crunched underneath me with every step I took. My body and I were frozen from the cold but also by being captivated by this peaceful, tranquil moment nature had to offer.
