Early morning breakfast around the "bush tv"

At the safari camps we visited in Botswana, there was no tv or radio and minimal Internet reception. Socializing was done around what was fondly called the "bush tv" - otherwise known as the campfire. When we sat around the bush tv in the early morning, we might see a herd of wild dogs crossing the savannah or a mother and baby elephant walking through the tall grasses toward the camp. In the evening when we sat around after dinner, it was totally dark except for the light of the fire and the stars, and the only noises were the conversations of nearby hippos or turtledoves. It was peaceful and quiet and timeless.
