Donnottar Castle, Scotland
Donnottar Castle is a medieval fortress on the north-east coast of Scotland. It played a significant role in Scotland history due to its strategic and defensive location with events that include battles of a Pictish king (c681), vikings,(c900), William Wallace (c1297), the civil wars ending in the execution of Charles I (1649), and the religious and political conflicts that continued through the 17th and 18th century.
