Desert Folks

Every year thousands of people gather in Pushkar, Rajasthan, to buy and sell camels during the 10 days annual fair. A camel in good shape can be sold for up to 50.000 rupees. For some the journey to Pushkar can take 3-4 weeks. Despite the scarcity of water, the hard bargaining among sellers and buyers and other challenges of this lifestyle, these desert folks often build a real bond among themselves and end up sharing space, provisions and stories.
