Circles of life

Lifestyle of the people of Shilabati River bordering area contrasts strongly with that in other parts of India. Many men here are jobless and addicted to Mohul liqueur. The women have come forward, formed self-help groups, made fishing nets, and they are now earning their livelihood by selling fish in village markets. They are sending their children to school. In a remarkable example of women empowering themselves, they are transforming the region.
