Chouara tannery in the ancient city of Fez, Morocco.

The tanneries have been in operation in Fez since the 14th century. Chromium has been a major ingredient in the tanning process since the 1800s. Men who spend their days in the carcinogen eventually suffer from immune system and respiratory problems.
