Bear Jam: Grizzly Bear jam in Grand Teton

Bear jams are a common occurrence in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. In Grand Teton National Park, visitors line the road to photograph the bears while being monitored by the park rangers. The grizzly bears are young bears, 2.5 yrs old, who just separated from their mother and are now learning to survival on their own. Many photos of the wildlife in Yellowstone show the animals in their natural habitat. I wanted to catch this moment to show people what really happens behind the shot. Jams like this are why I prefer to go out alone looking for animals in areas where there are no people so I can have a more intimate experience with the animal.
