An Evening Aarti in Benaras

Varanasi is the sacred city of the Hindus, on the banks of the river Ganges this ancient city bears testimony to the entire circle of life from birth to death. It is said that if a man dies in varanasi(benaras) his soul is set free and he does not have rebirth. Every evening in Beneras the Ganges is worshiped as ('Ganga Maia' or Mother Ganges). This picture was shot during such an arati(Worship by light).
