A very early start was necessary for this 300 km ride through stark desert country to view this most magnificent Egyptian temple of Ramesses II. This magnificent architectural wonder was disected, moved piece by piece and reconstructed on a new site away from being submerged by the waters of Lake Nasser formed from the building of the Aswan dam. A truly marvelous spectacle to behold and photograph. Although much visited the site is quite isolated adjacent only to a small Nubian village. I was lucky enough to get a tourist free shot!
