14th Annual Smithsonian.com Photo Contest
During the month of January, I volunteered at a school in the village of Mpigi, Uganda teaching an art/film class. Each day after I was done with my students, I would walk through the village in the when the children were getting out of school. As soon as these little ones would see me, their faces would light up with pure joy. They would run over and greet me, "Hello Mzungu!" (white person) and give me hugs. These children are pure innocence and goodness.
