Tshering, the carpenter

Bhutan’s art and crafts are intricately and unassumingly woven into the everyday life of its people. Seen here is, Tshering, a resident carpenter of the Gangtey Gonpa(Monastery) in the Phobjikha glacial valley in central Bhutan. He is engrossed is carving out a wooden decoration piece, to be installed within the monastery. Zorig Chosum, means the “thirteen arts and crafts of Bhutan” and represents the exclusive "spirit and identity of the Himalayan kingdom"
