The Chinese Opera

Opera artists prepare for performances during the Hungry Ghost Festival. The Chinese Opera, brought to Malaysia by the Chinese in the 18th century, is slowly being replaced by modern performances. With crowds diminishing each year and sometimes empty audiences, it is imperative that the opera be sustained. Future generations may not be able to experience the once rich and exotic opera performances.
