South Sudan, women of the fourth estate the story of three young and promising female journalists from South Sudan.
Flora Henry with her relatives and stepmothers standing in front of their house in Munuki, a suburb of Juba, South Sudan. Flora is single and she is not willing to get married too soon. She dislikes the patriarchal practices, which affects most families and therefore challenge gender equality in South Sudan. Flora said ‘that most problems occur when several wives live inside the same compound. They are fighting, quarrelling all the times, visitors can’t come. So because of that I decided not to get married to someone who already has a wife, I know the suffering. We have these issues all the time. This is normal for us here in South Sudan. We need to address these problems, it should start among us, the ladies and then move to the men’.
