OFFERINGS TO THE DEPARTED SOULS

IN INDIA THERE’S THE CUSTOM OF OFFERING WATER TO THE FOREFATHERS. IT IS CALLED ‘TARPANA’. BY THIS PRACTICE, EVERY YEAR BY OCTOBER, WE SHOW OUR GRATITUDE AND RESPECT TOWARDS OUR DECEASED FAMILY MEMBERS. IT IS A PART OF THE CULTURE OF INDIA. HERE IT APPEARS AS IF THE TWO BROTHERS ARE OFFERING WATER TO THE SPIRITS OF THEIR FOREFATHERS.
