Morning March of the Ducks

On the eastern coast of the island Bali lives a duck farmer, who, every morning at dawn will gather his ducks and march them through sand and waves down the coast line to a series of rice fields. As well as cleaning up and naturally fertilising the rice fields post harvest, the ducks are brought in during the growing season to eat the duckweed that grows in the water-logged paddy. The Bali duck, rarely found outside Bali, is said to be one of the earliest domestic duck types.
