Mehmet tends his flock above the new Hasankeyf bridge

Mehmet, a 17-year old Kurdish shepherd, stands on a ridge above the Tigris River and the site of the new Hasankeyf bridge in southeastern Turkey. The bridge will serve a new city after Turkey fills the reservoir behind the Ilısu Dam and floods the 12,000-year old Hasankeyf.
