Forest Fire Prevention

Forest Fire Prevention (FFP) team extinguish fires at a peatland in Rokan Hilir, Riau. on October 28, 2016. The haze is an annual problem caused by fires set in forest and on carbon-rich peatland in Indonesia to quickly and cheaply clear land for palm oil and pulpwood plantations. The blazes occur mainly on Indonesia’s western Sumatra island and the Indonesian part of Borneo, with monsoon winds typically blowing the haze over Singapore and Malaysia. The Greenpeace Forest Fire Prevention team is deployed for the first time in Riau to extinguish and prevent fire in peatland area. Member of Indonesian Forest Fire Prevention is Greenpeace volunters, they are victims of haze from forest fire in 2015, they are committed to stop forest fires.
