Celebration of Hay

Outside the busy city of Addis Ababa, are small remote villages with minimal to no technology and machinery. Two hours north of Ethiopia’s capital lies a small village that relies heavily on agriculture. The village is full of cattle, sheep, and various crops. On my walk into town, I noticed three agricultural workers singing in Amharina, laughing, and separating the chaff from the wheat a few weeks before Ethiopian Christmas. This particular photo represents sustainable travel by illustrating the love, care, and connection people have with the land. These agricultural workers utilize their own strength and hand to ensure the survival of the villagers, animals, and crops; something you rarely see in more developed nations due to machinery and mass production.
