The best photographs, in my mind, are stolen moments. When subjects are unaware of the camera, lost in their own life. At Phaung Daw Oo, a school in Mandalay with nearly 10,000 students on a campus no bigger than a city block, stolen moments are hard to come by. With the door closed, the classroom empty, and a dreamy canal behind the school, this student managed the impossible at the vivid school: a quiet moment.
