WHOOPER SWANS UNDER A THICK SNOWFALL

Back in Iceland again, accompanying a friend of mine who’s making a video about the theme "fragile ice". During a transfer stage, I find myself in a situation which I’ve already lived, but was unable to document it as I wanted: alone, on a snowy beach, a few steps from a group of whooper swans. A dark sky seems to predict an immediate snowfall. The surreal silence is only interrupted by the sound of crashing waves on the beach, rhythmically articulating the time - a unique atmosphere. One of those situations, thanks to which, I fell deeply in love with photography and felt an irrepressible desire to carry my camera with me so I would always be ready for those moments of great inspiration, in order to transmit the strongest emotions and to depict them in an image. With this feeling, I ask my three adventure companions to wait for just a moment, then, I try to approach the swans slowly without being noticed, not just to avoid disturbing the silent flock, but also to avoid breaking an atmosphere so endlessly magical. In a short time, I’m able to get close enough for a perfect point of view. I wait supinely over the snow anticipating an interesting position of the swans. In this exact moment, I understand that, contemporaneously, a thick snowfall has begun. I realize that this is the real reason why I have not yet been spotted by the swans. In fact, the snow has muffled the atmosphere, toning down the sounds and reducing the visibility. It seems to me that I’m living in a dream, because, in front of me, I have a glimpse of an endless series of amazing scenes. In the midst of this enormous group of swans, I only have to be perseverant in waiting for the right moment. Nothing else. Nature seems to think of everything else. Despite that we are in March, the atmosphere seems Christmassy.
