13th Annual Smithsonian.com Photo Contest
In addition to the beautiful coastal scenery, another goal for our trip to Nova Scotia was to observe wildlife native to the area. Our first wildlife sighting occurred rather serendipitously. We encountered this magnificent bald eagle sitting among the rocks on our way to Cheticamp Island from Cape Breton. I believe that we were as stunned to see it as he was to see us.
