Washed up bottle at Dead Horse Bay, Brooklyn NY
Hidden on the side of a busy road in Brooklyn, past dense underbrush is Dead Horse Bay: a small section of beach littered with the detritus of decades gone past. The surf washes up glass bottles, toys, shoes and items unrecognizable that tinkle eerily as the waves recede. These discarded items, slowly being reclaimed by their environment are a treasure-trove for historians and collectors wishing for a glimpse into 1930s New York City. This amber glass bottle was just one of thousands, partially submerged in the sand, glinting in the hazy sunlight. One day, it will transform back into what it once was: sand.
