walrus asleep at sea

When wind is strong and waves keep the walrus from resting on the rocks, some groups go back to sea, waiting for better weather conditions. In the meantime, they sleep in the water after the males inflated the aerial sacks they have behind their shoulder blades. Gathering In compact groups, the walrus can more easily fight against killer whales which are predators of youngs.
