Tule Elk Above the Blue Pacific

Tule elk, native only to California, were considered extinct by the late 1800s. A small herd was found, protected by a rancher, and all 4,400 alive today come from that group. A large herd inhabits Point Reyes National Seashore where this cow was photographed.
